The article summarizes generalized data of anthropometric and somatotypological research methods used at examining patients with dermatoses. It has been proved that the application of constitutional approach in clinical medicine allows constructing an overall predictive system of development of this or that disease. Consequently, we have set a goal to analyze the scientific literature data that reflect the results of anthropometric and somatotypological research in dermatology as a predictor of pyoderma development. Most scientists tend to believe that dermatological diseases are of multifactorial nature and the genetic factors may be the basis of their characteristic structural and functional changes. The complexity and high price of genetic research determines the relevance of searching for markers of genetic predisposition that are more accessible in daily clinical practice up to formation of the mentioned above nosology, and these markers should meet the following criteria: 1) integrated nature of marker and its stability, 2) simplicity and accessibility of research methodology that does not require expensive equipment, reagents and highly skilled personnel; 3) noninvasiveness of the examination procedure and its easiness for a patient. Anthropometric and somatotypological methods correspond to these requirements. The reason for this is the fact that habitus morphophenotype is the most accessible to be studied, relatively stable ontogenically, which presents genetically determined characteristics of an organism integrity, as well it is a macromorphological subsystem of the overall habitus and generally reflects the main features of ontogenetic, metabolic and overall body reactivity dynamics. Today the most important indices of habitus is a total body size (body length, body weight), body mass index (BMI – body mass to body length ratio), the ratio of waist circumference (WC) and thigh circumference (TC) – T/C, percentage of body fat. In the last two decades some works have appeared, in which, through the application of anthropometric approach in assessing human health, the relationship of body structure type, i.e. somatotype, with a number of dermatovenerologic diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, syphilis, acne and other diseases has been identified. The possibilities and benefits of anthropometric and somatotypological methods application for assessing susceptibility to dermatovenerologic diseases based on the data analysis of scientific literature suggest their potential and relevance for dermatology, allergology and valeology. The identified patterns of clinical responses in the case of skin diseases depending on the somatotype allow to recommend the application of anthropometric and somatotypological methods in dermatological practice. Despite the significant progress in the study of pyoderma, the issue of clinical features of its development depending on the somatotype has been scarcely studied. This fact directs the vector of our research and enables to predict the development of pyoderma, to evaluate the effectiveness of the administrated therapy.
