Abstract

Abstract. In modern society, reproductive health disorders are increasingly being recorded, which significantly affects both the well-being of families and the general demographic situation. One of the key factors that can reduce fertility is the deviation of spermogram indicators – a comprehensive study of ejaculate, which provides an objective characteristic of the state of male reproductive function.

The aim of the work was to conduct a comparative analysis of spermograms of men of reproductive age with pathospermia (teratozoospermia, asthenozoospermia).

Materials and methods. Spermograms were obtained during a study of patients at St. Panteleimon Hospital for impaired fertile function. The reproductive age of the patients was on average 36 years. A total of 34 men were examined. Based on the spermograms, 3 groups of patients were formed: with normozoospermia (n = 8), asthenozoospermia (n = 12), teratozoospermia (n = 14). Spermograms were evaluated by the following indicators: ejaculate volume (ml), viscosity, number of spermatozoa in 1 ml of ejaculate (million/ml); total number of spermatozoa in ejaculate (million); sperm motility; sperm morphology. Results. The study found that the ejaculate volume, concentration and total number of spermatozoa in men of the three groups did not differ significantly. The most pronounced changes were observed in motility indicators in asthenozoospermia, while in teratozoospermia they remained close to normal. Morphological analysis according to Kruger criteria (norm ≥ 4 % according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization) showed a sharp decrease in normal forms to 2.4 – 3 % in pathological groups. Thus, the main disorders in teratozoospermia and asthenozoospermia are associated primarily with changes in sperm motility and morphology.

Conclusions. It was established that in men with teratozoospermia and asthenozoospermia, the main abnormalities in the spermogram are associated with changes in sperm motility and morphology, while their quantitative indicators do not significantly differ from the norm.
