Abstract. The increasing number of obese people and the significant increase in injured patients make it urgent to study the process of re-epithelialization and the search for new dermatotropic agents.
Purpose. To investigate the features of healing of full-thickness excised planar wounds in rats of different sexes with glutamate-induced obesity (GIO).
Materials and methods. The study was conducted on 64 white non-linear rats aged 4 months, 32 males and 32 females, which were separately divided into 4 groups. Rats of groups I and II were intact. In rats of groups III and IV, both males and females, obesity was simulated by administering monosodium glutamate (MSG) in the early neonatal period. In 4-month-old rats of all groups, full-thickness excised planar wounds were simulated. In the dynamics of healing, the area of the wounds was measured.
Results. In 4-month-old male and female rats, which were administered MSG in the early neonatal period, obesity was recorded, including visceral, which was more pronounced in males. In males with GIO, the duration of healing and the area of lesions throughout the experiment were greater compared to controls. In females with GIO, the healing time was the same as in the control, but the lesion area during the experiment was larger compared to the control. In males and females with GIO, daily treatment of wounds with carbopol gel with melanin accelerated wound healing and significantly reduced the area of lesions during the experiment.
Conclusions. In rats of both sexes with GIO, the healing process of fullthickness excised planar wounds was impaired. Carbopol gel with melanin had a pronounced dermatotropic effect.
